What is Airflow Cleaning?

Airflow is a relatively new dental hygiene treatment which thoroughly cleans your teeth, gums and mouth. Airflow gently but effectively removes stubborn stains from teeth caused by frequent consumption of food and drink such as coffee, red wine, tea and spicy foods.

Airflow dental treatment also removes plaque and reaches deep into the periodontal pockets in your mouth removing bacteria from all the hard-to-reach places.

How does Airflow Cleaning work?

Airflow uses a gentle stream of warm water, fine powder, and air to clean your teeth and gums. The jet removes plaque, stains, and bacteria without physically touching your teeth.

Because there is no scraping, it is a great option if you have sensitive teeth or feel anxious about traditional cleanings. The gentle approach makes the experience much more comfortable, especially if you have had sensitivity or discomfort with dental cleanings in the past.

As it moves across your teeth and gums, the jet reaches into areas that are hard to clean at home, including deep between teeth and just below the gums. This helps remove hidden plaque and bacteria while leaving your mouth feeling fresh and noticeably cleaner.

I have recently had a crown fitted. Can I still get Airflow?
Airflow can be safely used on all dental restorations including crowns, bridges, dental implants and veneers.
How often should I get Airflow teeth cleaning treatment?
This will vary with each patient. A lot will depend upon your oral hygiene and your lifestyle. If you thoroughly clean your teeth twice a day and avoid consuming food and drink that are likely to stain your teeth, then the effects of Airflow will be longer lasting. You may not need another teeth cleaning treatment again for 6 months or a year. Other patients may need to book for another Airflow treatment after just a few months.
Can everyone get Airflow dental treatment?
Airflow can be used on most adults and children. There are a few restrictions which means Airflow cannot be given to people with certain medical conditions and these are mainly related to respiratory illnesses. Your hygienist at Levitas Dental Clinic will talk to you about whether you are suitable before starting Airflow dental treatment.

Hadn’t been to the dentist for a while so I booked here. The check up was really detailed, they showed me photos of my teeth on the screen which was actually quite interesting. The hygienist used some new method that didn’t hurt and my teeth felt really clean afterwards. I also asked about veneers, the dentist gave me options and advice without trying to push me into it. It felt like they genuinely cared rather than just selling a treatment
I went to Levitas Guildford for a hygiene and some bonding on my front tooth. SJ on reception was lovely, she explained everything in a calm way and sorted me out quickly. Dr Khaled was so gentle and made me feel relaxed, I honestly expected it to be more uncomfortable. The airflow was much better than anything I’ve had before and the bonding is invisible, you can’t even tell which bit was done. Left feeling like I had new teeth

You get what you pay for in Guildford. This clinic is a bit pricier than others in town but Dr Khaled is a great dentist - he’s very passionate about his work and I was very happy with the results of my hygiene clean. The equipment is also new and modern - some other places don’t have the same air flow machines so the results aren’t the same. Will be back for whitening treatment :)))
