What is Composite Bonding?

Composite bonding (also known as dental bonding or teeth bonding) is a quick, non-invasive cosmetic treatment that can dramatically improve the appearance of your smile.

Using a tooth-coloured resin, our dentists carefully shape and polish the material to blend seamlessly with your natural teeth. It is a painless procedure with instant results, making it a popular choice for patients seeking subtle yet impactful improvements.

Composite bonding can help:

What is the process for Composite Bonding?

During your first appointment we will discuss what you would like to change about your teeth and talk through the process of composite bonding. We will also examine your teeth and make sure that this cosmetic dental treatment is suitable for you.

At your next appointment, we will start by choosing a dental resin that closely matches the colour of your teeth.

Next, your tooth is prepared by gently scratching at the surface. A conditioning liquid is then applied which adheres the dental bonding material to your tooth.

The composite bonding material is gently moulded on to your tooth until we are all happy with the results.

Finally, a special light is placed over the top of your teeth which hardens the composite bonding to your tooth, keeping it firmly in place and giving your tooth a brand-new look.

Teeth bonding is a painless cosmetic dental procedure and usually takes about one hour to treat one tooth. If you need more than one tooth treated, you may need a longer appointment. Your dentist can discuss this with you at your first consultation.

Composite Bonding FAQ

How long does dental bonding last for on my teeth?
Composite bonding typically lasts for about 5 years. After this time, you may need your dental bonding to be replaced or re-worked. Composite bonding is not as hard as your usual teeth so it can get chipped or wear away quicker. How well you maintain your oral hygiene can affect the longevity of your composite bonding, so be sure to brush and floss your teeth at least twice a day and visit your dentist in Guildford regularly.
Is there anything I shouldn’t do after having composite bonding on my teeth?
You will have to avoid biting your fingernails or pen lids and you should avoid any other activity that you may have used previously with your teeth such as tearing off sellotape. This is because the composite resin on your teeth can chip far more easily than your natural teeth.
Can I eat and drink as usual after having dental bonding on my teeth?

Your dentist at Levitas Dental Clinic can advise you specifically about this, but you may be advised to avoid consuming anything that is dark coloured such as tea or coffee in the first 24 hours whilst your composite bonding settles down.

We would advise against biting directly into hard foods with composite bonding such as apples, carrots, hard bread rolls, nuts etc.

Hadn’t been to the dentist for a while so I booked here. The check up was really detailed, they showed me photos of my teeth on the screen which was actually quite interesting. The hygienist used some new method that didn’t hurt and my teeth felt really clean afterwards. I also asked about veneers, the dentist gave me options and advice without trying to push me into it. It felt like they genuinely cared rather than just selling a treatment
I went to Levitas Guildford for a hygiene and some bonding on my front tooth. SJ on reception was lovely, she explained everything in a calm way and sorted me out quickly. You get what you pay for in Guildford. This clinic is a bit pricier than others in town but Dr Khaled is a great dentist - he’s very passionate about his work and I was very happy with the results of my hygiene clean. The equipment is also new and modern - some other places don’t have the same air flow machines so the results aren’t the same. Will be back for whitening treatment :)))
